Mobile Point-of-Sale (POS) systems offer a plethora of advantages for small businesses. One of the most straightforward benefits of implementing such platforms includes a significant boost in returns.
The best part is, mobile POS platforms are not just for large brands. A recent report from Capterra, a Virginia-based software solutions company, highlighted that out of 44 percent of businesses that use mobile POS, 79 percent are small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). Interestingly, close to half (46 percent) spend less than $1,500 per year on POS products.
Today we will show you how businesses are harnessing the power of mobile POS systems to increase customer retention and improve sales.
Improving Customer Retention Rates
Retaining customers is very difficult when there are a handful of businesses in one location offering similar products. In order to stay ahead of other competitors in the space, establishments must provide a noteworthy experience inside the store.
For instance, instead of forcing customers to line up during checkout, buyers can purchase items remotely around the store with a credit card through a mobile point of sale. By offering two separate checkout options (cash at the register, credit cards via a mobile POS), businesses could eliminate long, frustrating lines.
With employees scattered around the sales floor, buyers may also get their questions answered in real-time. Repeat customers are on the hunt for such perks, because they cannot get the same experience shopping online.
Tech-Savvy Marketing Edge
Mobile POS platforms open up a menu of cutting-edge features that can help businesses win over tech-savvy customers. Options like mobile payments, e-receipts and remote checkout reduce friction, which is often tied to a memorable, seamless experience.
According to a survey by the National Restaurant Association, 79 percent of respondents favor mobile POS checkout because it is convenient. Furthermore, 34 percent of survey participants mentioned that supplementing the dining experience with technology encourages them to eat out and order more often.
For quick service restaurants, a whopping 70 percent of food businesses using a mobile POS system admitted that using such platforms contribute to accuracy and speed during service. This advantage is beneficial for both parties: customers complain less about wrong orders and restaurants waste less time (and money) on food-related disputes.
“As the demand for an omni-channel customer experience grows, retailers will need to seek out mobile POS systems engineered to increase management capabilities, operational efficiencies and productivity while boosting sales,” said Jeff Pinc, Director of Food Service for Panasonic System Communications Company of North America.
